Buy tickets for our raffle for an exceedingly good cause and be in with a chance to win great prizes provided by Bread & Butter cafe in Truro (see below for prizes).
REMEMBER, the more tickets you buy, the greater your chance of winning!
A lovely local family who are customers of ours and friends to many of you are fundraising. We would love you to help us help them. They desperately need to raise £5,000 for an off road wheelchair for their son Jake. We are selling raffle tickets to win some great Bread & Butter prizes. 100% raised will go straight to this lovely family to get Jake out and about this summer. Please purchase as many raffle tickets as you are able - and of course the more you buy, the greater your chance of winning.
Here's some background from Clare, Jake’s mum: “Everyone loves a beach day with the kids, a walk through woodland with the family, or a picnic in the park. It’s really frustrating having to wrestle, fight and force a clunky, heavy wheelchair across a bumpy field, dig the wheels out of the sand every couple of metres, and push and pull your child’s wheelchair over stones, rocks and tree roots JUST to be able to access the great outdoors. This summer families all over the country will head for some much-needed fun in the countryside and at the coast. But for some families, accessing those simple pleasures is an almost impossible task. A fun day out becomes a tiring and overwhelming test of physical strength and injury risk.Jake loves Harry Potter, steam trains and playing on the beach. Jake also happens to have Down Syndrome as well as Cerebral Palsy and other complex needs which make it challenging for him to walk for long periods of time and over uneven terrain, and so he often needs to use a wheelchair. The NHS do not fund off road wheelchairs, which means the expense of upgrading to a more suitable off-road wheelchair that will support Jake as he grows and enable him to continue to enjoy fun times with his family, must be met by his mum and dad.Clare has decided to run a 24 mile stretch of the Classic Quarter ultra marathon on 22nd May to raise money for a new off road wheelchair for Jake. It’s a tough run over undulating coastal paths, starting from Lizard Point in Helston and running to Marazion. Once there, she will hand over to her relay partner Paul Lampier, of Lampier’s Butchers in Threemilestone, who will finish the course at Land’s End. Between them, they will cover more than 44 miles and over 1500m of rugged coastal elevation.A physically challenging task for sure. But so is pushing a standard wheelchair across anything other than flat ground. Our fundraising target is £5,000 – this is to allow for the starting price of the wheelchair and hopefully to cover some of the additional costs of wheelchair modifications.” We would love to help Clare hit (or even better, exceed) her fundraising goal, and we would love you to help make Jake a very happy boy. Thank you so much for reading this and for any raffle tickets you purchase."
